Colour Me Good Horror – Argghhhhhhh!

It’s been a while since I picked up a colouring book and to be fair it’s not something that’s ever been high up on my wish list. The Colour Me Good Horror describes itself as “the cool colouring book for good colourer-inners (as well as beginners)”. Now before you start adding this to your basket thinking little Rosie or little Jim would love it as a present – be warned. The images they’ll be colouring in are not farmyard animals or lovely landscapes – but characters from horror movies.

Amongst the images you can colour in are Carrie (from Carrie), the Bunny Boiler (from Fatal Attraction), Freddie (from Elm Street), Hannibal Lecter (from Silence of the Lambs) and a few scenes from The Shining. The safest image for youngsters would be the packet of Monster Munch which completes the book!

This last image left us even more confused over the target audience for Colour Me Good… By the time most people get into horror they’ve probably long passed the desire to sit down and colour in… whilst those who like colouring in are possibily too young to be scribbling across images of werewolves and the shower scene from Psycho.

Colour Me Good Horror may well appeal to horror fans who fancy getting started with drawing their favourite characters – although that’s possibly stretching things a little. At best it could make a fun Secret Santa, stocking filler or as something a little left field – it’s probably not an ideal present for typical ‘colouring in ages’. One final point is that it’d be nice if it came with a few colouring pencils – I’ve not had any of those to hand for some years too.
